Research to find a potential model that could "support businesses and organisations in Gwynedd and Anglesey to make the most of the opportunities in the carbon sector for economic, environmental and community benefits to the area.”
We recently commissioned Lafan Consultancy Group to research a potential model that could support businesses and organisations in Gwynedd and Anglesey to make the most of the opportunities in the carbon sector for economic, environmental and community benefits to the area.
As part of their research, Lafan held workshops with stakeholders where the concept of the ‘Gwynedd and Môn Carbon Hub‘ was suggested, a resource that would be able to support and guide businesses and organisations wanting to be part of the market and decarbonisation efforts.
One of the main aims of the framework would be to match local businesses/organisations who want to reduce their carbon footprint with landowners who would be interested in having their land used to absorb and lock carbon under an independently accredited regime. It is suggested the hub would also be able to lead on the formulation of a ‘Carbon Strategy‘ for Gwynedd and Anglesey, which could include net zero targets that would support the prosperity of several industries, such as tourism, agriculture, food processing, energy generation etc.
