Plas Heli

Feasibility Study on the old lifeboat station in Pwllheli.

This project has been funded through the Gwynedd Piloting Fund, a Fund which has been targeted at community groups in Gwynedd to enable them to trial new activities in their communities.

Plas Heli Ltd is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee which is set up specifically to run the National Sailing Academy and Wales Events Center.

Plas Heli was looking for ideas to develop sustainable plans for the Old Sailing Club site in Pwllheli that responds to local needs and opportunities. In July 2015, this building was closed, and everything was moved to the new Plas Heli building. They started looking at the idea of creating affordable accommodation for groups, families and visitors by adapting the old sailing club. However, they felt that further support was needed to look at this idea along with other ideas that had the potential to generate income that could be included in the Old Sailing Club, and they were keen to have fresh eyes on the resource in its integrity to assess whether accommodation is the best option.

Plas Heli applied to the Gwynedd Pilot Fund to receive financial assistance to commission a specialist to produce a Feasibility Study of the Old Sailing Club building in Pwllheli, and the application was approved. The Feasibility Study was completed at the start of 2019.

The Feasibility Study will be available in English soon.
