Simultaneous translation is important in Gwynedd, and if possible, barriers to use should be reduced. O Glust i Glust is a simultaneous translation app that uses mobile phones as simultaneous translation equipment.

The idea was to adapt technology that allows you to talk to people all over the world to be used within the same room!

It was decided to work with Geosho, a pioneering digital company from Caernarfon, to develop the O Glust i Glust (from Ear to Ear) App.

Obviously not everybody owns an Android phone or has access to smartphones at all, so the intention is to recycle old Android phones and download the “O Glust i Glust” app.

The app is available on Google Play but the following needs to happen for it to be successful:

• Source of Android phones that could be recycled and used as headphones.
• System to distribute phones and chargers for use by users.
• Opportunity to showcase the system at meetings and events.
