Llŷn Coastal Bus – O Ddrws i Ddrws

Pilot project that trials a digital booking system to see if it is sustainable for a community transport group

O Ddrws i Ddrws has been successfully running the Llŷn Coastal Bus pilot since 2015, and they are now keen to pilot innovative ways of making the coastal bus sustainable. The advantage of the coastal bus is to improve access to the coastal path, access to heritage attractions, and improve the travel service for local people.

Looking to the future, it was decided to pilot innovative ways of trying to make the bus sustainable for future use. There is also a need to build better relationships between local businesses and the coastal bus, aiming to show potential users how it could be used and made easy for visitors to book.

To book the bus at present, you need to call the office telephone number during working hours on days when the bus runs, and make a request for the bus to pick you up. Therefore, an ibooking system was funded on the Llŷn Coastal Bus website where it is possible to buy a weekend or individual bus ticket over the internet as an innovation. It is possible to insert the ibooking system on the O Ddrws i Ddrws website, as well as others. The system will coordinate all orders into the same system. This will reduce administrative pressure as the system will co-ordinate all work on the cloud.
